Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that Peacekeepers Park in Angus is situated on traditional territory within the area of Treaty 18 (the Lake Simcoe-Nottawasaga Treaty).

The land is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, which includes the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations, collectively known as the Three Fires Confederacy. We also recognize the historical presence of the Huron-Wendat and Haudenosaunee Nations who cared for these lands.

As a place dedicated to honoring peace, service, and sacrifice, we express our gratitude to the Indigenous stewards who have cared for this land since time immemorial, and we commit to moving forward in a spirit of reconciliation, respect, and shared community.
