Peacekeepers Park Angus is a Registered Military Monument.
Welcome to our freshly minted website and this blog.
Feel Free to send in comments and in the fullness of time we will add them to this blog.
Why PeacekeepersParks.ca Our goal is to promote all Peacekeepers Parks and Monuments in Canada here on this Website. We are not for profit and all volunteers.
This website is a living plan, by that, we mean - the developer (Paul Joseph) whom we highly recommend - will be updating features of the website on an ongoing basis. We are all Volunteers, so please bare with us. We operate on a shoe string budget, only made possibly by donations from our sponsors and our community.
Out of the Gate: We want to acknowledge some significant entities in our Community.
The Township of Essa, Mayor Sandi Macdonald. The Township of Essa Counsel. And Especially Township of Essa Parks and Recreation folks.
The Angus Legion Branch 499, for their on going support. President Howie Hipwell https://www.anguslegion499.ca/honouring-veterans
The Barrie Legion Branch 147, for their on going support. President Fern Taillefer https://barrielegion147.ca/our-branch/about-page.php?id=25
Veterans Affairs Canada, for their on going support. https://www.veterans.gc.ca/en/remembrance/memorials/canada/peacekeepers-park-0
One of our biggest donours to date has been "Waterboys Angus" we acknowledge and formally recognize Mr. Bill Gallant for his ongoing generosity.
You will see more on Waterboys Angus under our sponsors link tab, and the Angus Rock-and-roll festival held annually in September. Bill has supported our annual golf tournament since it first started. https://waterboysangus.wixsite.com/waterboys
Bob Jackson, Jacksons Toyota Barrie, This man has supported our fund raising for many many years, and especially as the main sponsor of our annual fundraising golf tournament. www.jacksonstoyota.com
Next we want to thank, New to You - Helping Hands Thrift Shop Angus, Joe Burke and his volunteers have gone above and beyond in raising much needed funds to maintain and enhance Peacekeepers Park. https://focuscdc.on.ca/company/helping-hands-thrift-store/
Next we want to thank, Sandi Macdonald, Mayor of Essa Township, does that lady ever step up in big ways. Her Worship roles her sleeves up and pitches in she is one of our biggest supports and we are a fan. https://www.essatownship.on.ca/play-explore/parks-facilities/peacekeepers-park-fundraiser/
Next we want to thank, Bob George CD, (Project Manager) this volunteer is a veteran he: eats-lives-breaths Peacekeepers Park, this is his LOL. (Labour of Love) if you want a personal tour of the park, it is usually Bob who steps up and provides it.
Next we want to thank, Don Ward CD, ( "Artist" ) when you visit the park, and look at the faces of the fallen, you will see his on going work. The detail this man has put into honouring the fallen, speaks for itself. Don is now turning his skills to honouring the living which is the next phase of the enhancements.
Next we want to thank, Dean Black CD, former director of RCAFA Foundation, for connecting us with Canada Helps to assist in our fundraising Campaign.

Peter Lorimer of www.Loraday.com This guy supports Veterans need we say more. Thank you Peter for all you have done and continue to do.
We would be remiss if we did not acknowledge Proprietor Chad LEE of Sweet Escapes Ice-Cream shop opposite the Park, a huge help.
The long name: Gerry Tremblay CD Central Ontario Chapter Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping, website PeacekeepersParks.ca has been launched to promote the Work the COC CAVUNP Association Chapter does in the Simcoe County Community and that CAVUNP does Canada Wide. One of the main goals of our Chapter is to recognize, remember and honour our Canadian Military Veterans, Peacekeepers or otherwise. We are very proud of our Veterans and we show it.
If you are a veteran and want to join our chapter, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Peacekeepers Park in Angus, promotes just that. There are many maintenance and enhancement projects that have been undertaken. The Park situated at: 12 Commerce Road, Angus, Ontario (Roughly Hwy 90 and Mill Street - Brentwood Road Angus) is open to the public. It features static displays, such as a Lynx APC and LAV 111, both served on Peacekeeping or Peace Making Missions. You will also find each of the UN-NATO Missions that Canada's Military have participated in since 1948 recognised with a separate pedestal outlining the number of Canadian Peacekeepers who lost their lives in the service of Peace.
Michael Comeau CD - was the first President of COC CHAPTER - He will be recognized and remember on the "They Shall Grow Not Old" Project that is coming soon to the park. Sadly Mike passed away before he could see this enhancement finished. https://skwarchukfuneralhome.com/tribute/details/6417/G-Michael-Comeau/obituary.html
Gerry Tremblay CD - served in Syria when the Buffalo 461 was shot down, nine Canadian Peacekeepers perished in that event on August 9, 1974. Gerry was instrumental in having the Township of Essa name the land Peacekeepers Park. Thus our Chapter is named in his honour. Gerry Passed away December 2018.
Irwin Collier - Honourary Chapter Patron, Irwin sadly passed away before the Park has been enhanced to the extent that it has, however he was a local business man and Honourary Colonel RCAF at Base Borden for all the generous support he provided.
BUFFALO 461, - The mission that lost nine Canadian Peacekeepers on August 9, 1974. Two of which were from Angus. We honour all Peacekeepers on August 9th, every year always August 9th.
